s Cruel

So I entered the cool vs cruel contest again this year with a different idea. We were asked to use one of four designers as inspiration one of the options was Alexander McQueen that's a no brainier. I wanted to show both sides of the competition, I also wanted to be darker. All fabrics used have to be animal friendly.

I have the strapped cape with bloody lining to show the the cruel side of things. The dress is fitted with a stretch fabric, the fabric is suppose to look like leather, and I used piping to add detail and shape to the lines. There are zippers on either sides of the dress, one is black and the other is red, to connect it with the cape. The hoops I used on the cape were original meant for drapes but they were on sale so I went with them.

I created the pattern for the cape using flat pattern drafting. I used a size six top block, for the dress and extended it the full length of the dress. I had to take in the dress a bunch for the runway model, which was depressing because I original wanted to model it for the photos and when I was done it barely fit my roommate.
